Bio

I am passionate about sustainability, craftsmanship and innovation.

As a Director and Principal Engineer with Bligh Tanner, I advise governments and developers on how to achieve better manage water in urban environments.  I have CPEng, RPEQ and CPESC qualifications, and a high level of expertise in developing policies and technical standards for integrated water cycle management and sustainable urban design.  I use facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills to help my clients achieve their goals, often where there are institutional or policy barriers to making progress.

My successful initiatives include Water by Design, Flood of Ideas, Flexicar (Australia's pioneering carshare company) and Cool Communities.  I studied environmental engineering and physical geography at the University of Melbourne, graduating as Dux. I have been honoured to receive a number of prestigious awards including the Gilbert Vasey Award in Agricultural Engineering, the inaugural Sinclair Knight Merz Fellowship, the Tim Fairfax Scholarship, as well as awards for my public speaking,  writing and engineering design.

I make fine furniture, rich compost and, hopefully, a better world for my kids.
