Bio

I am passionate about design, sustainability, craftsmanship and innovation.

As a Director and Principal Engineer with Bligh Tanner, I draw on a broad set of skills and experience to help deliver complex projects.  I have FIEAust, CPEng, RPEQ, CPESC and BSc qualifications, and a high level of expertise in developing policies and technical standards for integrated water cycle management, sustainable urban design, and sport and recreation projects.  I use facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills to help my clients achieve their goals, often where there are institutional or policy barriers to making progress.

I am a Director of Stormwater Australia (and was President from 2018 to 2022), where I apply my governance and group work skills to ensure the professional operation of this industry association.

My successful initiatives include Water by Design, Flood of Ideas, Flexicar (Australia's pioneering carshare company) and Cool Communities.  I studied environmental engineering and physical geography at the University of Melbourne, graduating as Dux. I have been honoured to receive a number of awards including Queensland Professional Engineer of the Year, the Gilbert Vasey Award in Agricultural Engineering, the inaugural Sinclair Knight Merz Fellowship, the Tim Fairfax Scholarship, as well as awards for my public speaking,  writing and engineering design.

I enjoy making make fine furniture, and hopefully, a better world for my kids.
